Working Globally

Your culture shapes your decisions and actions. In a global workplace, that also means understanding and adapting to varying cultural workplace norms is essential for your success.

To thrive in today’s global business environment, professionals in most multinational organizations must have the ability to partner seamlessly with colleagues and clients from around the world. With nearly 200 countries on our planet today however – each with their own customs, social dynamics and business norms for the workplace – adapting between cultures can be a daunting task.

In this workshop, we have designed a comprehensive learning program that blends cultural theory with hands-on group activities and case studies to help professionals adopt a global mindset. While most of our competitor’s courses focus extensively on simply teaching culture theory, our behavior-based program is designed to give participants the opportunity to apply real-world tips and strategies across multiple world cultures.

With the theories of the greatest minds of culture studies such as Geert Hofstede, Fons Trompenaars and Charles Hampden-Turner as a foundation, participants first explore how the different dimensions of culture directly impact how people communicate, receive and process information, make decisions and orient themselves to their workplace surroundings. Then these cultural dimensions are directly applied to different ‘culture clusters’ found in your organizations’ global footprint using actual business case studies from over 150 countries, as well as custom-designed examples unique to your own business and industry. By incorporating this simplified ‘culture cluster’ approach, participants are able to readily differentiate between the12 distinct cultural business styles found around the world and within your company.

Once this foundation is established, participants then apply what they have learned through small group activities that compare and contrast how various culture clusters apply to:

  • workplace communications

  • time management

  • project management

  • age and gender etiquette

  • leadership and organizational hierarchy

  • workplace conflict

  • individual and team delegations
