Presenting In The Boardroom: Making Business Cases
You’ll probably only get 5 -10 minutes to win over the bosses. Make them count.
It’s rare that mid-level leaders and front-line supervisors have complete authority to make the decisions needed to run their functions and manage their teams alone. Whether to garner support for a new project, to gain additional funding or to add staff and resources, their success often depends in large part on an ability to communicate persuasively to convince the boss and other executives to buy into an idea or approve a request.
Designed to be part training session and part work meeting, participants will first learn how to develop a dynamic and succinct business case by applying a proven approach and best practices to a real-world business initiative that they bring to the session. Then, after assessing the target audience dynamics and anticipating objections, each participant will build and present a 4-minute ‘elevator speech’ to practice the delivery of their business case in and receive real-time feedback from their fellow participants. In an optional second phase of this program, many clients then bring in the their senior leaders where the prepared business cases are presented for actual company approval in a format similar to the popular TV show ‘Shark Tank’.
